John, originally from Leeds, trained with Deloitte & Co in Edinburgh and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975. In 1976 he undertook a transfer to Johannesburg with Deloitte on a two year contract and stayed for a further two years before returning to Deloitte’s Yorkshire practice in 1981, where he was a senior manager. His ambition was always to own and run his own practice and he became a partner in DSC in 1988 and senior partner in 2006. John is a member of the Institute of Indirect Taxation and also a qualified IFA and member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, with the qualifications and experience needed to meet the increasing demand for high quality financial services particularly in pensions, investments and wealth management.

John joined DSC in 2003 after graduating with an Honours degree in Economics at Durham a year earlier, and then travelling around the world. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2006 - he now looks after his own small portfolio of clients. As a DIY enthusiast, John has just finished renovating a property in York, and as a keen sportsman, he eagerly awaits the start of every hockey season. John loves the mountains, skiing in the winter and walking in the summer. After a recent summer holiday in Chamonix, John is trying to persuade his wife that climbing Mont Blanc isn't nearly as dangerous as she keeps promising him it is.

Graham joined DSC in June 2010 having relocated from Sussex following ten years with his previous firm. Graduating in 1999 with an Honours degree in Mathematics from Nottingham University and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2002 he has since gained wide-ranging experience across the audit, accountancy and tax spectra, striving to apply high quality technical advice to the specific circumstances of each of his clients.
Graham lives with his wife Nikki in West Leeds where they are active members of a local church. He also enjoys playing badminton and exploring the Yorkshire countryside.

Wayne has been with DSC as man and boy since joining as a young lad in 1985 - in fact rumours of him being part of the balance sheet fixed assets, albeit now fully depreciated, are probably correct! He qualified as a certified accountant in 1993 and is an accounts and audit manager with a wealth of experience covering all aspects of audit and accountancy issues. Wayne is passionate about sport, in particular football and Leeds United and is married to Andrea (who hates sport, in particular football!) with two children Jack and Kelsie.

Julie joined DSC as a manager in 2003 when she moved to North Yorkshire from Oxfordshire. She trained as a Chartered Accountant with a large national accountancy firm and on qualifying, moved to a smaller local firm of accountants where she could assist smaller owner managed businesses - she now has over twenty years experience in general practice work. She works part time at DSC and when not working, enjoys spending time with her family, especially on the North Yorkshire Moors.

John has over twenty years' experience in the profession and unfortunately probably has more than twenty years still to go! He worked for two accountancy practices in Leeds for approximately ten years each before being 'sentenced' to DSC as an accounts manager at DSC in July 2004. As a golf playing, Doctor Who loving, sports trivia obsessed accountant John ticks all the boxes required to qualify as one of the most boring people in the world - a title he has successfully held for forty five years and counting.....

Janet joined DSC in March 2011 as a client manager, having trained within the audit department at KPMG in Leeds. She is a qualified chartered accountant, qualifying in September 2010.
She has previously worked within the financial services sector (Nat West Bank) as well as for a tour operator specialising in self-catering holidays in UK, Ireland & Europe. She then took the decision in 2004 to change careers to accountancy and attended Lancaster University, gaining a first class honours degree in accounting and finance.
Outside of work her interests are football (season ticket holder at Burnley FC) and clay pigeon shooting. She also enjoys walking, both in the Dales and in the Alps on holiday.

Philip joined the firm in June 2011 in the role of client manager.
Philip is a native of Harrogate and studied at the University of Sheffield for a BSc in Economics. He was then recruited by KPMG in Leeds and qualified as a chartered accountant in September 2009 having passed all his exams at the first attempt. Philip’s aspirations lie in general practice work and after taking a career break to travel and do some charitable work.
In his spare time Philip likes to play a variety of sports including cricket, tennis and badminton. He is also a keen gardener growing a variety of vegetables and at present he is seeking to acquire his own allotment.

Caroline joined DSC from PricewaterhouseCoopers in July 2007 to concentrate solely on private tax work – she currently manages a portfolio of over 300 clients. She specialises in personal tax planning, including Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax. Originally from Leeds, she now lives in Stokesley with her husband, where her outside interests include running, going to the gym, and taking long walks in the surrounding countryside.

The majority of Paula’s working life has been spent in the Civil service. After a varied and satisfying career, Paula decided that the time was right to seek a change and so volunteered for early retirement – very early!
Paula enjoys working as a receptionist and took over the morning reception duties at DSC in July 2010.
Outside work, Paula has two energetic border collies that require lots of exercise. Fortunately both Paula and her husband enjoy walking, especially in the Dales and escapes to the Cairngorms whenever possible.

Pat joined DSC in 2002 as afternoon receptionist. As well as answering the telephone and looking after visitors, she also ensures that all post goes out checked, signed and on time. This is particularly important when there are so many deadlines for accountants to meet. Like Mags, Pat has lived in Harrogate nearly all her life, and knows many of our clients and their businesses on a personal as well as professional level.

Alison joined DSC in 1998, having moved to Harrogate from Berkshire. She is originally from Lancashire – but we don’t hold that against her! She has always worked in accountancy practices and now, on top of her secretarial and administrative duties, she is responsible for co-ordinating and producing our monthly team brief. She works mornings only, and in her spare time, she and her husband enjoy walking, swimming and watching football.

Rosie joined DSC at the beginning of July 2010 having relocated back to Yorkshire from North Wales, where she gained a wide range of experience as a Practice Manager in a similar sized firm of Accountants.
In addition to utilising her many skills in practice administration, she also looks after all the marketing activity at DSC.
In her leisure time, Rosie enjoys walking her two dogs in the countryside with her husband.

Linda joined DSC in September 2008, having previously been with another firm of accountants. She has also spent nine years working with SAGE software, part of which involved advising on technical issues via the SAGE helpline. Linda has lived and worked locally all her life, and in her leisure time, enjoys spending as much time as possible with her family, and looking after her three horses, Dyno, Boo and Foxy.

Jack joined DSC in September 2009, having completed his A-Levels in Business, Computing and History. He is currently studying for his AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) and hopes to go onto his ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants).
In his spare time Jack likes going to the gym, watching his beloved Newcastle United and plays football and Waterpolo for several teams throughout the week.

Sean joined DSC in November 2010. Having completed his degree in Economics and Finance at the University of York Sean has now commenced his studies towards being a fully qualified accountant and his academic skills are already being used for our clients benefits.
A keen linguist and a fan of the arts, Sean can often be heard singing. He likes to play board or video games, and you will catch him coming to and from the office on his bicycle- in sun, rain, hail or snow!

Peter joined DSC in November 2011 as a Trainee Accountant, after gaining a 1st Class Economics degree at Newcastle University. He hopes to go on to study for the ACA qualification.
In his spare time, Peter enjoys going to the gym, swimming (he is a qualified lifeguard) and going for long walks with his dog around the Yorkshire Dales. He also plays 5-a-side football during the week, and cycles during the summer months.
