John, originally from Leeds, trained with Deloitte & Co in Edinburgh and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975. In 1976 he undertook a transfer to Johannesburg with Deloitte on a two year contract and stayed for a further two years before returning to Deloitte’s Yorkshire practice in 1981, where he was a senior manager. His ambition was always to own and run his own practice and he became a partner in DSC in 1988 and senior partner in 2006. John is a member of the Institute of Indirect Taxation and also a qualified IFA and member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, with the qualifications and experience needed to meet the increasing demand for high quality financial services particularly in pensions, investments and wealth management.

Simon, born and educated in Leeds, joined DSC in 1999 and became a partner in 2001. He gained his Master of Accounting qualifications at Rice University in Texas, having won an Athletics Scholarship for middle distance running. Returning to Yorkshire in 1990, he worked for Arthur Anderson, Binder Hamlyn and Riley & Co, before making his final move to DSC. During these years, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and obtained the Institute of England and Wales’ practicing certificate.
By now fully conversant in all aspects of compliance and traditional accountancy work, Simon now shares responsibility for the overall running of the firm, and services a portfolio of trading and personal clients. As well as specialising in cutting edge tax schemes designed to maximize your wealth, he also delivers seminars on a wide range of business growth topics.

Wayne has been with DSC as man and boy since joining as a young lad in 1985 - in fact rumours of him being part of the balance sheet fixed assets, albeit now fully depreciated, are probably correct! He qualified as a certified accountant in 1993 and is an accounts and audit manager with a wealth of experience covering all aspects of audit and accountancy issues. Wayne is passionate about sport, in particular football and Leeds United and is married to Andrea (who hates sport, in particular football!) with two children Jack and Kelsie.

Julie joined DSC as a manager in 2003 when she moved to North Yorkshire from Oxfordshire. She trained as a Chartered Accountant with a large national accountancy firm and on qualifying, moved to a smaller local firm of accountants where she could assist smaller owner managed businesses - she now has over twenty years experience in general practice work. She works part time at DSC and when not working, enjoys spending time with her family, especially on the North Yorkshire Moors.

Mark joined the team in 2004, having previously worked in York for fifteen years. As a Client Manager, he helps coordinate the services DSC provides and strives to ensure our clients remain delighted with them. Mark specialises in accounts, management accounts and is also one of our SAGE software experts. When he's not working, he can be found taking part in recreations of the Wars of the Roses, gardening organically and looking after his pet snake.

John has over twenty years experience in the profession and unfortunately probably has more than twenty years still to go! He worked for two accountancy practices in Leeds for approximately ten years each before being ‘sentenced’ to DSC as an accounts manager at DSC in July 2004.
As a golf playing, Doctor Who loving, sports trivia obsessed accountant John ticks all the boxes required to qualify as one of the most boring people in the world – a title he has successfully held for forty four years and counting………….

Caroline joined DSC from PricewaterhouseCoopers in July 2007 to concentrate solely on private tax work – she currently manages a portfolio of over 300 clients. She specialises in personal tax planning, including Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax. Originally from Leeds, she now lives in Stokesley with her husband, where her outside interests include running, going to the gym, and taking long walks in the surrounding countryside.

John joined DSC in 2003 after graduating with an Honours degree in Economics at Durham a year earlier, and then travelling around the world. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2006 - he now looks after his own small portfolio of clients. As a DIY enthusiast, John has just finished renovating a property in York, and as a keen sportsman, he is eagerly awaits the start of every hockey season. John loves the mountains, skiing in the winter and walking in the summer. After a very recent summer holiday in Chamonix, John is trying to persuade his girlfriend that climbing Mont Blanc isn't nearly as dangerous as she keeps promising him it is.

Edward's professional career reached its pinnacle when he joined DSC in 1999, having worked in accountancy practices all his life, including some time spent specialising in the agricultural industry in Lincolnshire. Edward lives in Leeds, and his leisure time is happily taken up with his wife, five children, eight granddaughters - and, at present, solitary grandson. He is also a follower of the Yorkshire County Cricket team.

Jonathan joined DSC after completing his A-level studies in 2001. After achieving the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification, he studied toward membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, passing the final admitting exams in 2007. He is now developing his own portfolio of clients, providing services such as business valuations through to management accounts and cash flow forecasting in addition to more traditional compliance work. He is responsible for managing the technical training of our student team members and the continuing professional development of qualified team members. Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys cooking, entertaining and listening to a wide variety of music.

Lisa Green joined us as a trainee accountant in July 2007, having graduated from Leeds with a 2:1 degree in history. Her various achievements to date include the bronze Duke of Edinburgh award, being part of a successful Young Enterprise team, and, whilst at university, winning a ‘hardest working history student’ award (as well as the ‘smallest person’ award!). In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and socialising - but right now there is not a lot of spare time left after working during the day and studying for her Chartered Accountancy exams at night.

Jessica joined DSC last year in September, having just finished her A-Levels in English, Maths and Product Design. She is currently studying towards AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification and hopes to go on to study either ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). Jessica has lived in Wetherby all her life, and in her leisure time she likes to catch up with her close friends, whether it be a quiet drink, going to the cinema or even just shopping.
Margaret – also know as Mags, or Maggie – began work at DSC in 1987 as morning receptionist. Always happy and cheerful, Mags knows as much about DSC as almost anybody, and is an irreplaceable source of important information for both clients and the DSC team. A lifelong resident of Harrogate, she and her husband enjoy spending quality time with their young grandchildren.

Pat joined DSC in 2002 as afternoon receptionist. As well as answering the telephone and looking after visitors, she also ensures that all post goes out checked, signed and on time. This is particularly important when there are so many deadlines for accountants to meet. Like Mags, Pat has lived in Harrogate nearly all her life, and knows many of our clients and their businesses on a personal as well as professional level.

Alison joined DSC in 1998, having moved to Harrogate from Berkshire. She is originally from Lancashire – but we don’t hold that against her! She has always worked in accountancy practices and now, on top of her secretarial and administrative duties, she is responsible for co-ordinating and producing our monthly team brief. She works mornings only, and in her spare time, she and her husband enjoy walking, swimming and watching football.

Jenny looks after client payrolls and associated issues, organises the business builder breakfasts, sits on three of the internal DSC focus groups (client service, human resources and marketing) and deals with general administrative matters. She lived in Bristol for eighteen years before moving to Yorkshire in 2006, although she did get married and her first daughter was born in Harrogate many years ago. When not working for DSC, her favourite way to spend time is with her husband, family and friends in Cornwall, sailing, fishing, walking and talking.
