DSC Breakfast seminar events – supporting local businesses with advise and networking - New guests are always made welcome, and this endures that there is a steady turnover of fresh contactsAn eclectic mix of established business owners, budding entrepreneurs, professional services organisations and the naturally curious, regularly gather at the business breakfast seminars hosted by DSC, a Harrogate based chartered accountancy firm.
Held in central Harrogate, at The White Hart Hotel, the primary aims of these business breakfasts are manifold - to provide a forum for the free interchange of ideas and experiences in running a business, to encourage successful networking activity, and to suggest new ways for developing and improving business performance.
The reasons for attending the business seminars are many:
DSC have been operating their successful Business Breakfast seminars since 2005. Over the past three years the events, held every two months, have attracted people from a wide cross-section of the business community and from many different parts of the district.
Some business people attend regularly, some occasionally, and some go only once - there is no commitment to attend every event. New guests are always made welcome, and this ensures that there is a steady turnover of fresh contacts with whom to network and exchange views. Start-ups can learn lessons from established businesses, which may, in turn, pick up some fresh ideas for themselves.
The meetings follow a common format, beginning with tea/ coffee at 8.00 am, followed by breakfast and the main presentation. Each event focuses on a different topic and frequently offers opportunities for the business audience to take an active role – open discussion on a point raised, or a focus on individual business requirements. After a break for refreshments and networking, the event finishes with the “Strategic Board”, which often proves to be the most popular part of the morning, when all the issues raised are freely debated. The meetings close at 10.00 am, by which time all attendees should have an action plan or, at the very least, a note of just one action they are going to take immediately, to improve their business performance.
The next Business Breakfast topic is entitled “The Sales Journey”; an overview of what a business needs in order to maximise sales potential. Attendees will be invited to take a strategic look at how they get their products to market by reviewing their own sales journeys. The presentation will pull together strands from previous seminars, “pricing for maximum profit”, “sensational service”, “the perfect selling system”, “win that pitch”, “telephone tactics”, “what to do when your competitors are cheaper than you” and “how to overcome objections when selling”.
Held on two days, Friday September 19 and Wednesday September 24, at The White Hart Hotel, Harrogate, 8.00 am to 10.00 am, these free seminars are open to all. To reserve a place please contact Jenny Purdy at DSC on telephone number 01423 560547 or email j.purdy@dscca.com.
